Ok so this one it a doozy - interpolating channels was always a grey area and was only introduced just to allow bad channels to continue the stages and not get dropped, with an attempt at making them slightly better than doing nothing to them. It was primarly used, along with ignoreing bad channels, for graphing purposes across individuals as some of them required the exact same list of channels to be present. The images that get generated/plotted have changed lots since this was introduced, and maybe this "hack" of interpolating channels is not required anymore. Will require lots of testing to determine the best way to proceed to actually fixing this, rather than just ensuring it can only interpolate from channels of the desired type.

Did implement long channels not using short channels, but not the other way areound. Still needs more deliberation, but this part will be included in the next release.
